Zero waste in sewing: We should make the best possible use of fabric as a valuable resource and ideally manage without waste. This works with a slightly different cut, clever design ideas and a sporty laying technique.

What is special about the zero waste design process?

The design process involves the fabric much more and the design and pattern are closely interlinked from the very beginning. I often make paper models, drape them on the mannequin or on the 3D avatar.

  Size 2: 52cm x 8cm / 20.5” x 3.1”
• thread
• open-ended zip, 50cm / 19.7”
• bias tape, 2.5m / 98.5” (optional)
• fusible interfacing (optional):
  2 x 1cm x 60cm / 0.4” x 23.6” for zip edges
  2 x 3cm x 20cm / 1.2” x 7.9” for pocket fold

Equipment

• Sewing machine (with zigzag stitch)
• Overlook (optional)
• your sewing basket with measuring tape, pins, chalk, fabric scissors, sewing needle etc.
